Girolamo Seripando lived between 1493-1563, a critical period in the history of the Roman Catholic Church. These were years which saw the need for urgent reform, the spread of Protestantism, the disintegration of religious life, and preparations for a General Council. In light of this, Girolamo Seripando is often portrayed as one of the most eminent figures of pre-Tridentine and Tridentine reform. Seripando's most significant contributions to the renewal of the Church are detailed in this book, which covers his reign as archbishop of Salerno.
