Mission & Vision of the Augustinian Press
The Augustinian Press now not only offers great Augustinian authors, artists and musicians, but great tools for spirituality.
Augustine of Hippo (d 430), profoundly shaped the western church and left an intellectual and spiritual inheritance which still has a critical impact on the church 1600 years later. Augustine, the man, was a seeker, never satisfied, always searching, often losing his way in dead ends but finally finding the way. A profound thinker and student of human nature, he came to understand that the human heart is always restless until it comes to rest in the one from whom all things come. His struggle, then, is ours today. Like Augustine in his time, our times find myriad men and women of all backgrounds searching for something more, struggling to fill a void within, hungering for and seeking a deep and satisfying spiritual life...often with no plan, no mentor or guide for the journey, or signposts to point the way. Augustine's journey can give hints for our own journey. Augustine's total dedication to the search, to the discovery of truth, to the commitment to love provides one way or "window" for understanding the Gospel with its call and direction for each one of us. The Augustinian Press is committed to this vision, to providing the insights of this profound saint and his legacy as signposts for today's seekers to find and understand and follow their own unique paths on the journey. The Augustinian Press does this through the written word, through the spoken word in videos and tapes, through the sung word, and through the word so profoundly spoken through art, all communicated through the miracles of modern technology.
